Junior Underwriter, Financial Lines

Are You Ready to Join Our Growing Underwriting Team in Helsinki?

We are looking to expand our underwriting team in Finland with a new Junior Underwriter who will support the growth of our Financial Lines portfolio. This is a part-time, permanent position based in our Helsinki office.

Who are we?

The RiskPoint Group is a global Managing General Underwriter (MGU) providing best-in-class insurance solutions backed by the insurance companies we represent.

We operate with agility, collaborating cross-border and across all business lines.

Our company structure is flat, and we provide great opportunities for every employee to make a difference, take responsibility, enhance their skill set, and grow.

About the team

Our Finnish office, located in Helsinki, is home to a small but energetic and driven team of underwriters dedicated solely to liability insurance products.

Across the company, we are 59 experts from six different countries who specialize in various areas of liability insurance, including Financial Lines, Cyber, and Casualty. We are organized by product specialties and regularly hold seminars to share updates, transfer knowledge, and strengthen ourselves as a global team.

You will join our growing Financial Lines department, which currently consists of 22 highly skilled and multinational underwriters based in the Nordics and across Europe.

About the position

As our new part-time Junior Underwriter, your position will primarily be to underwrite and develop business for our Directors & Officers and Crime insurance offerings in the SME segment in Finland.

In our small office operations, there is strong collaboration, allowing you to work across multiple product lines. Depending on your skills, capabilities, and interests, the flexibility of the role provides potential for it to adapt and expand in the future.

You will become part of a dynamic and fast-growing business environment within the insurance marketplace, and have the opportunity to engage daily with colleagues, insurance brokers, and insured clients. A big part of your everyday work will be collaborating closely with other members of our Finnish team and your wider international colleagues.

This is the perfect position if you are looking for 15-20 hours per week, or are, for example, a student in the final stages of your studies. Depending on the development of the business operations, it is possible that this role will be converted to a fulltime position in 2027.

Examples of responsibilities include:

  • Interacting with brokers and carriers and negotiating first-class business deals
  • Conducting technical, legal and financial risk analysis to provide necessary risk reviews and sophisticated, informed underwriting decisions
  • Nurturing and maintaining the existing product portfolios
  • Developing new business for Financial Lines products in Finland
  • Obtaining insights into Financial Lines risks in different-sized Finnish enterprises, both in Finland and globally

A great match

As this is a dynamic and agile role dealing with a variety of tasks, it is important that you are energetic, ambitious, and have an entrepreneurial spirit.

To be successful in this role, it is important that you are service-minded as well as a team player. Virtual interactions are as much a part of our day-to-day work life as in-person communication, and we are looking for someone who enjoys building new relationships locally and across borders. Moreover, we expect you to be trustworthy and helpful, take responsibility, and thrive with increasing levels of independence.

The most important attribute is your attitude and dedication to the role, as well as your interest in developing your skills and driving business forward together with your team.

We hope you have:

  • A suitable educational background – ideally, but not limited to, law, business administration, or economics
  • Experience with financial analysis, risk assessment, and/or contractual terms
  • An understanding of marketing, sales-oriented working methods, and business administration (preferred but not required)
  • The capability to work independently with a proactive attitude
  • The ability to manage complex tasks
  • Experience with negotiation
  • A flexible attitude and ability to self-manage
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

It is important that you are fluent in Finnish and English. Swedish skills are considered an advantage.
